PTI MNAs Submit Affidavits Following Supreme Court Ruling on Reserved Seats

ISLAMABAD: In response to the Supreme Court’s recent ruling regarding reserved seats, Members of the National Assembly (MNAs) affiliated with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) are actively submitting their sworn statements to the PTI secretariat. Prominent leaders such as Omar Ayub, Shaharyar Afridi, Ali Muhammad Khan, and others have already provided their affidavits to PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali.

Key figures, including Hammad Azhar, Mian Azhar, Syed Raza Ali Gillani, Ahmed Chattha, Rana Bilal Ijaz, Usama Hamza, and Jamshed Dasti, alongside a majority of the party’s MNAs, have completed their submissions. Reports indicate that approximately 90 percent of the members have filed their statements, with the remaining MNAs instructed to do so by the deadline of Sunday. The party plans to forward these affidavits to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday.

The Supreme Court’s split verdict has authorized PTI to reclaim 22 reserved seats in the National Assembly, previously allocated to other parties by the ECP. With this decision, the total number of PTI lawmakers, including those previously classified as PTI-backed members of the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC), now stands at 92, raising the overall count of PTI MNAs to 114.

This significant development highlights PTI’s efforts to solidify its position in the National Assembly and underscores the importance of adhering to legal protocols in the wake of the court’s ruling.
