Pakistan Triumphs Over England to Secure World Championship of Legends Semifinal Spot

Pakistan beat England by a margin of 79 runs in the World Championship of Legends 2024 at the Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham.
Pakistan’s dominant performance continued in the World Championship of Legends 2024 as they secured their fourth consecutive victory, defeating England by 79 runs at Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham. Batting first, Pakistan posted a formidable total of 196 runs for the loss of four wickets. Despite losing openers Kamran Akmal and Sharjeel Khan early, a pivotal 121-run partnership between Sohaib Maqsood (64 off 44 balls) and Shoaib Malik (51 off 33 balls) set the stage for a competitive score. Skipper Misbah-ul-Haq (23 not out off 14 balls) and Abdul Razzaq (20 not out off 9 balls) contributed crucially towards the end of the innings.

In response, England struggled against Pakistan’s bowling attack, losing key wickets at regular intervals. Captain Kevin Pietersen fell early, and despite efforts from Phil Mustard (34) and Kevin O’Brien (24), they failed to build substantial partnerships. Eventually, England was bowled out for 117 runs, with Saeed Ajmal taking three wickets, Abdul Razzaq claiming two, and Shoaib Malik, Sohail Khan, and Aamer Yamin each picking up one wicket.

With this convincing win, Pakistan secured their spot in the semifinals of the World Championship of Legends, showcasing their strong form and determination in the tournament.
