Justice Aalia Neelum Sworn In as First Female Chief Justice of Lahore High Court
In a historic ceremony today at the Governor House in Lahore, Justice Aalia Neelum took oath as the first woman Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court. The oath was administered by Punjab Governor Sardar Salim Haider at 9:30 am, marking a significant milestone in Pakistan’s judiciary.
Following the oath-taking, Chief Justice Neelum was accorded a guard of honour by the Lahore High Court police forces. Her appointment, along with that of Justice Shafi Siddiqui, was approved by President Asif Ali Zardari, highlighting the importance of this appointment.

She holds an LLB from the University of Punjab and has been a pivotal figure in the judiciary since her appointment as an additional judge in 2013.
Throughout her tenure, Justice Neelum has delivered over 203 judgments, showcasing her expertise and dedication to justice. Notably, she has been a trailblazer as the first woman administrative judge of anti-terrorism courts and has championed gender-based violence cases.
