Imran Khan and PTI Leaders Acquitted in Aabpara Police Station Case

Qureshi, Sheikh Rashid, Shehryar Afridi, Faisal Javed, Raja Khurram, Ali Nawaz, Asad Qaiser also cleared of charges in Aabpara Police Station case.

The District and Sessions Court of Islamabad has delivered a significant verdict, acquitting Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Founder Imran Khan and several prominent party leaders in a case registered at the Aabpara police station. Judicial Magistrate Yasir Mehmood announced the reserved verdict, clearing former Prime Minister Imran Khan alongside senior PTI figures including Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Sheikh Rashid, Shehryar Afridi, Faisal Javed, Raja Khurram Nawaz, Ali Nawaz Awan, and Asad Qaiser.

The acquittal represents a notable legal victory for PTI’s leadership, who had been entangled in the legal proceedings following the case’s filing. Speaking outside the court, a PTI spokesperson expressed relief and reiterated the party’s steadfast commitment to upholding the rule of law. “This verdict underscores our trust in Pakistan’s judiciary and justice system,” the spokesperson remarked. “Our leaders have consistently maintained their innocence, and today justice has been served.”

Meanwhile, in another legal development, the Islamabad District and Sessions Court has indicated progress in the ongoing nikah during iddat case involving former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi. Additional Sessions Judge Afzal Majoka heard the appeals filed by the couple against their respective sentences in the case.

During the hearing, Imran Khan’s lawyer, Salman Akram Raja, highlighted the Supreme Court’s stance on women’s rights during iddat, emphasizing reconciliation opportunities within the stipulated 90-day period post-divorce. Raja also scrutinized the statements made by Mufti Saeed, citing discrepancies in his testimony. “Mufti Saeed’s contradictory statements regarding iddat raise serious concerns,” Raja asserted.

This dual legal update underscores the complexities and outcomes of recent judicial proceedings involving prominent political figures in Pakistan.
