A video titled ‘Othy Dance Kardi Payi Ae’ by YouTuber Hasan Iqbal Chishti has sparked outrage on social media for its disparaging remarks against girls’ education. The Punjab Commission on the Status of Women (PCSW) has taken swift action, expressing deep concern over the content.
Nilofar Bakhtiar, Chairperson of the National Commission for Women’s Dignity, has strongly condemned the video, calling for stringent action against its creators. She urged the Cybercrime FIA to promptly investigate the matter and emphasized the removal of such derogatory content from social media platforms under the supervision of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).
Chairperson Bakhtiar highlighted the incident’s timing, coinciding with the National Conference for Women’s Education, emphasizing that denying girls and women their right to education contradicts constitutional principles.
