Bangladesh Clinches Unassailable Lead in T20I Series with Victory over Zimbabwe

CHITTAGONG: Towhid Hridoy’s blistering half-century, followed by a combined bowling effort led Bangladesh to beat Zimbabwe by nine runs in the third T20I of the five-match series here on Tuesday.

In a thrilling encounter, Bangladesh emerged victorious over Zimbabwe in the third T20I match, claiming an unassailable 3-0 lead in the series with two matches to spare. Opting to bat first, Bangladesh posted a challenging total of 165/5, propelled by a crucial fourth-wicket partnership between Hridoy and Jaker Ali.

Despite a shaky start, Bangladesh’s innings gained momentum as opener Tanzid Hasan and Hridoy steadied the ship with a cautious partnership. The duo’s resilience paved the way for a dominant position, as they added 87 runs in less than 10 overs.

However, Zimbabwe fought back fiercely during the chase, led by a remarkable performance from Faraz Akram, who orchestrated a stunning 54-run partnership with Wellington Masakadza. Despite their valiant effort, Zimbabwe fell agonizingly short of victory, requiring 12 runs off the final delivery.

Bangladesh’s bowlers displayed commendable performances, with Mohammad Saifuddin leading the attack with figures of 3/42. Rishad Hossain contributed with 2/38, while Mahmudullah, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Taskin Ahmed, and Tanzim Islam each claimed a wicket.

Ultimately, Bangladesh’s narrow victory showcased their resilience and determination, securing a series win and underscoring their dominance in the T20I series against Zimbabwe.
