The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has initiated contact with the International Cricket Council (ICC) to ascertain the affiliation status of an upcoming tournament, delaying the issuance of no-objection certificates (NOCs) for players including Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Afridi. This decision follows multiple requests from players seeking PCB’s approval to participate in various global cricket leagues.
Just recently, the PCB granted NOCs to 12 cricketers enabling their participation in leagues worldwide. Among them are both centrally contracted players and those who have been away from national duty for an extended period.
Notably, seven Pakistani cricketers have been selected by franchises in the Global T20 Canada League. Vancouver Knights have picked Babar Azam, Asif Ali, Mohammad Amir, and Mohammad Rizwan, while Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Nawaz will represent Toronto Nationals. Additionally, Iftikhar Ahmed is set to join Bangla Tigers Mississauga.
This proactive approach underscores PCB’s commitment to balancing player participation in global tournaments while adhering to international cricket regulations. The final decision on issuing NOCs hinges upon the ICC’s response regarding the tournament’s status.
